Romeo Football Club have emerged the winner of the maiden edition of Yajifarz Foundation Cup competition.

The club defeated Galaxy FC 2-1 Sunday afternoon in a gruelling encounter at the Soun Stadium Ogbomoso.

The first half ended goalless with the two teams doing everything possible to draw the first blood though were extremely cautious to go all out and failed to convert their chances.

In the 8th minute of the second half however, Favour Olabode put Romeo ahead beating an offside trap. That goal gingered their opponent who stepped up their game carrying out raids deep into their half but all the efforts were thwarted particularly by the brilliant saves of Adisa Olivia, who is in goal for Romeo.

He also said his interest was sparked by the call of the Soun of Ogbomoso Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III to indigenes to rise towards investing in the city “so she can be transformed into a model domain. The Oba was in Abuja last year and he made an inspiring speech. That is why l instituted this tournament especially as it aligns with my father’s prompting in the past.”

His father, a retired senior Custom Officer, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Solademi, a k.a. Mentos the Gas, is a respected community leader in Ogbomoso.
