Yajifarz Cup: Finalists emerge in thrilling encounters

The maiden edition of the Yajifarz Foundation Cup competition in Ogbomoso, Oyo state, has entered the final stage.
In the semi final matches played Tuesday at the football pitch of Ogbomoso Grammar School Oke-Owode, Galaxy FC Ahoyaya spanked Mighty Crown FC of JK Atanda Layout 1-0 to emerge victorious. In the second semifinal Romeo FC also pipped its opponent Taraa Rovers, Randa area 1-0, to book a date with the Galaxy boys.
The matches lived up to expectations with strong displays of football artistry. It was watched by a large spectator.
The date of the final and third place matches will soon be announced.

The competition is inaugurated by an Abuja-based businessman Alhaji AbdulMajid Oladimeji Solademi in conjunctions with Ogbomoso Progressives Youth Wings.

Alhaji Solademi said his decision was dictated by the prompting of the traditional ruler of the town, His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III, that Ogbomosos in the diaspora should return to contribute to the development of their homeland, adding it aligned with past advocacies of his father (retired Custom officer Alhaji Abdulganiyu Solademi a.k.a. Mento Gas, a community leader).

Owner of Air Warriors Basketball Club Abuja, which is a national basketball champion, the younger Solademi said he is inspired to contribute to the development of sports in Ogbomosoland through discovery of talents and nurturing them to stardom. He said he is also looking at bringing his business interest to the city.
