Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have successfully defended their UEFA Champions League title after defeating Arsenal on penalties in a dramatic final played at the Puskás Arena in Budapest.

The encounter ended 1-1 after regulation and extra time before the French champions held their nerve in the shootout to claim a second consecutive European title.

Arsenal made a dream start to the final when Kai Havertz put the Premier League champions ahead in the sixth minute with a well-taken finish. The Gunners maintained their advantage for much of the contest through a disciplined defensive display.

PSG, however, found a way back into the game in the 65th minute when Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé converted from the penalty spot after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was brought down inside the box.

Despite chances at both ends, neither side could find a winner during the remainder of normal time and extra time, forcing the contest into penalties.

In the penalty shootout, PSG ultimately emerged victorious despite a miss from Nuno Mendes. Arsenal’s hopes of securing a first-ever Champions League title suffered a major setback after Eberechi Eze and Gabriel Magalhães failed to convert their spot-kicks, handing the French champions a second consecutive European crown.

The victory further cements PSG’s position among Europe’s elite clubs and marks another major achievement under manager Luis Enrique, who has transformed the French side into one of the continent’s dominant forces.

For Arsenal, the defeat brings an end to a remarkable European campaign. The Gunners reached their first Champions League final in two decades but were denied a maiden continental crown by the defending champions.

The triumph sparked celebrations among PSG supporters across France and around the world as the club added another chapter to its growing European success story.
