Orumogege Football Competition 3rd edition kicks off September 8

The Organising Committee of the Orumogege Football Competition has announced the commencement of the 3rd edition of the grassroots football tournament scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

The committee, in a statement signed by the Chairman, Orumogege Sports Service, Amos Adewale Ado, said the tournament would form part of activities marking the installation anniversary of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, the Soun of Ogbomosoland.

According to the statement, the competition is organised in honour of the monarch’s reign and the peace, unity and progress associated with his leadership.

The committee described football as a unifying sport that brings people together, noting that the tournament provides an opportunity to celebrate the values of unity, discipline and community development.

It stated that the third edition would build on the successes recorded in previous editions, promising improved organisation, higher competitive standards, enhanced fan experience and greater opportunities for young football talents to showcase their abilities.

The competition, according to the organisers, has continued to serve as a platform for discovering and developing grassroots football talents while promoting friendship and youth empowerment through sports.

The committee added that this year’s edition is expected to attract more participating teams, supporters, football enthusiasts and distinguished guests from Ogbomoso and beyond.

It invited football lovers, corporate organisations, community leaders, government agencies and members of the public to support the initiative aimed at promoting youth development and celebrating the reign of the Soun of Ogbomosoland.

The organisers assured participating teams of a fair, transparent and well-organised competition that would surpass previous editions.
