OGBOMOSO: Taraa Rovers lift maiden Onisapa Cup … scouts invade venue, as Oba marks 1st anniversary

Taraa Rovers Football Club Ogbomoso, have lifted the maiden edition of the Onisapa Football Competition, overrunning Young Arsenals of Oke-Owode 1-0.

The final played at Molete Community Grammar School was graced by the Orisatolu (Onisapa) of Isapa Kingdom Oba Ezekiel Abolarinwa Olajide, who attended along with other members of the ruling house.
The venue was also thronged by football scouts, Ogbomoso Insight Sports learned.
“There is a certain player, Waheed, of Young Arsenal, who alongside his two elder brothers plays for the club, the 17 year-old is a delight to watch. There were scouts standing beside me talking about him and they were impressed,” a football buff, Kolade, who watched the explosive match told Insight Sports.
The Orisatolu said the event organized to herald his first coronation anniversary on Friday February 14 is to foster unity among the youths and the people of Ogbomoso generally, “There is need to also discover young football talents and help nurture them to stardom.”

Alhaji Raheem Amodu, a prince of Onisapa ruling house commended the Orisatolu saying he has been working to unite the family and make impact.
Alhaji Bello Wasiu, a club owner and Alhaji Abdulazeez Bashiru, chairman Nigerian Football Coaches Association Ogbomoso zonal council, in separate interviews, also commended Oba Olajide for his efforts in football development while urging him to extend it to other sports and encourage others to sponsor competitions.
“Our players in Ogbomoso are now getting exposed and gradually gaining national and international exposure. It is only through promotion of football we can develop the sports and harness our potentials,” it was noted.

Reacting, coach of Taraa Rovers Dr Aba stated his club’s triumph was down to hard work.
The first coronation anniversary of Oba Olajide comes up tomorrow with exciting activities lined up for the programme.
