The cherished dream of His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III the Soun of Ogbomosoland to engender a Greater Ogbomosoland will take another giant leap today as the foundation of a modern Aso-Oke (Ofi) weaving centre will be laid.
The centre will spring up at the Ogbomoso Ultra Modern Market, LAUTECH area.
To be named Fedegbo Mega Aso-Ofi Weaving Centre, a Facebook post by Peter Olaleye, Special Assistant on Media and Community Relations, to Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, stated the event will commence at 10am.
“History would be made tomorrow, Thursday 17th July 2025 by 10:00am at the Ogbomoso Ultra modern market, behind Operation Monitoring office, as the foundation of THE FEDEGBO MEGA ASO OFI WEAVING CENTRE would be laid.”

In a chat with ogbomosoinsightonline.com Rev’d Olaleye assured many other development programmes and projects are underway saying “Kabiyesi Alayeluwa Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III is determined to walk his talk. Ogbomoso must be great, the domain must be transformed. It’s vision, determination, meticulous planning and unwavering commitment that built the great cities of the world, so, Kabiyesi believes that with such ingredients Ogbomosoland will witness a boom.”
He added that “The vision will not get translated into reality by being petty and frivolous and neither will devotion to religious or superiority rivalries lead to its accomplishments but by strategic thinking, planning and action. Our revered father isn’t being bogged down by shenanigans and machinations, the principle of forward movement is what he embraces.”

Recall Oba Ghandi few weeks ago visited the Fedegbo Aso-Ofi Weaving Centre at Osupa during which he promised the centre will be given a facelift to revive the industry especially in the light of the Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival which annually will increase demand for Aso-Ofi.
Ogbomoso Insight learnt that the monarch in a strategic move contrary to seeking personal gains earned the commitment of a good spirited individual to build the modern weaving centre. “It should have been at Fedegbo the ancient major weaving hub in Ogbomoso but that place is small, that is why the idea of building it at the Ultra Modern Market was come up with. Though a small scale one will be put at Fedegbo too,” Ogbomoso Insight was informed.

Perhaps it is why the paramount ruler emphasized during a townhall meeting recently that people should begin to relocate to the market commissioned since 2007 but which has refused to kick to life with bustling activities.
“But this new Sheriff in the city is determined to put life into the market. Last year, the monarch’s efforts facilitated the relocation of butchers and meat sellers to the market, hopefully when the Ofi centre comes off too, activities will further pick up,” it’s added.
