Soun, Oyo Speaker, sports commissioner, others to grace final of Orumogege football competition

The final of the maiden Orumogege Football Competition will come up on Sunday, December 15 at the Soun Stadium, Ogbomoso.
Many dignitaries are expected at the occasion among whom are the Soun of Ogbomosoland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III; Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin; and Oyo state commissioner for youths and sports.
The competition, organized by the Ogbomoso Community Youth Forum (OCYF), has as finalists, Masifa United FC and Jordan FC, with the third place match to be between Adifala FC and Favour FC on the same date, starting 2:00pm.

“The stage is set for an electrifying grand finale of the Orumogege Football Competition organized by the Ogbomoso Community Youth Forum (OCYF),” a statement made available to ogbomosoinsightonline.com. signed by the chairman of the competition’s organizing committee and the association’s secretary, Comrade Amos Ado and Dr. Adeniji Idowu respectively, notes.
“The competition has entered the final stage, and will be a local derby between Masifa United FC and Jordan FC. The third-place match will be between Adifala FC and Favor FC. It is planned to herald the maiden Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival, an initiative of His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III, from December 19 to 23.”
The final matches planned to herald the one year coronation anniversary of the Soun Oba Olaoye, will be spiced with different ceremonies including cultural performances and awards to outstanding players.

The statement adds, “The maiden Orumogege Football Competition has lived up to its billing in terms of sublime display of talents, energy, skills and athletic prowess. The excitement, enthusiasm and support it has generated has made us look at it as an annual event and we have begun planning for the next edition in earnest.
“This year’s final promises to be a truly historic occasion, and will draw in sports enthusiasts and community members alike.

“The final will represent a vivid display of football prowess among our youths. We will thus be honoured to host football buffs to this momentous event as we provide a platform to celebrate the exceptional talents in our community.
“Among dignitaries to grace the occasion are the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege 111; Oyo State House of Assembly’s Speaker and other members of the House of Assembly; Oyo State Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports; and other distinguished Guests of Honour will be in attendance.”

While inviting the generality of the people, soccer buffs etc to attend “this historic football celebration,” it restates, “Attendees can expect an unforgettable day filled with a passionate display of skill, sportsmanship, and community pride.
