‘You need to service your body through medical checkups like you service your car,’ Genesis boss says

Scores of people including teachers and retirees availed themselves of the opportunity provided by Genesis Medical Diagnostics Centre, Agbonin, Ogbomoso, Oyo state, on October 1, which involved subsidized medical checkup.

The programme organised to mark the 2025 World Teachers’ Day featured free medical screening, medical consultations, lecture and so on.
“The programme is first of its kind in Ogbomoso and environs,” Prince LekanTheophilus Olawuyi, father of the director of the centre, Prince Victor Olawuyi told ogbomosoinsightonline.com. “It targets teachers and retirees. We have several doctors who are specialists, consultants on ground. We have cardiologists, a neurologist, oncologist, gynaecologist and others. And the machines are on ground to conduct thorough tests.”
Prince Olawuyi, a retired principal, noted the programme was a demonstration of the vision of the Soun of Ogbomosoland His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III bordering on his 25 year-development plan. “We support the 25 year-development plan of His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olufemi Olaoye Orumogege III. The Soun is working tirelessly to transform Ogbomoso, recently, we held the education summit, next week, there will be economic summit. Victor too is a member of the health committee of the 25 year-development plan. We key into the vision.”
He expressed gratitude to the Soun represented at the event by his chiefs led by the Areago of Ogbomosoland High Chief Sobalaje Otolorin.
Speaking with newsmen, the Areago thanked Genesis Medical Diagnostics Centre for the initiative saying it aligns with the 25 year-development plan of Oba Ghandi.

He urged people to avail themselves of the opportunity saying health is wealth. “Our people should look beyond the money, it is better to detect these ailments in time and seek treatment.”
Also a beneficiary Pastor Akinwale Samuel, also a retired principal, commended the initiative, saying it is a demonstration of their love for the people. He prayed God would enlarge the coast of the centre.
Director of the centre, Prince Victor Olawuyi ruing the low patronage by teachers submitted it pays to detect ailments early in order to administer appropriate treatment.

“The doctor who delivered the lecture said that it is better you drive yourself to hospital than being driven due to illness. One will be driven if one’s condition has deteriorated. But you can drive yourself there to do checkups. We need to change our mentality and superstitious belief that diagnosis means death sentence.
“No, it only affords us the opportunity to manage the condition instead of dying gradually. If people service their cars regularly why don’t they apply the same principle to service their body by regularly going for medical screening!” He averred.
