Thousands of residents of Ogbomosoland have benefited from a five-day medical outreach and food support initiative organised by the Funmi Adewole Foundation in collaboration with the Healthcare and Medical Committee of the 25-Year Development Plan of the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III.

The programme, which ended on Friday, October 30, 2026, recorded an estimated 4,000 beneficiaries who received medical consultations, treatment and essential medications, while approximately 10,000 people benefited from the Foundation’s food support initiative.

The outreach brought medical services closer to residents who might otherwise have difficulty accessing healthcare, while the food distribution provided assistance to individuals and households across the community.

The scale of participation was notable, with reports of people travelling from different states to Ogbomoso to benefit from the medical mission.

Reacting to the outcome of the programme, the Soun expressed gratitude to the Funmi Adewole Foundation, the healthcare professionals and volunteers who participated in the exercise, as well as sons and daughters of Ogbomosoland whose support contributed to its success.

Soun appreciates Foundation, medical team

The monarch expressed deep appreciation to the Funmi Adewole Foundation for its generosity and commitment to improving the welfare of residents of Ogbomosoland.

He also commended the doctors, nurses, other healthcare professionals and volunteers who devoted their time and expertise to attending to beneficiaries throughout the five-day programme.

Oba Olaoye noted that the intervention went beyond the provision of medical services, describing the dedication of the team as an expression of compassion and commitment to humanity.

He disclosed that he was particularly moved by reports that some beneficiaries travelled considerable distances from other states to access the services provided during the outreach.

The Soun also acknowledged the contributions of Ogbomoso indigenes who supported the initiative, stressing the importance of collective responsibility in addressing the needs of the community.

He maintained that one of his greatest motivations was to see the people of Ogbomosoland doing well, living well and enjoying better lives.

The medical outreach forms part of the people-centred development vision underpinning the 25-Year Development Plan of the Soun, which seeks to promote sustainable growth and improve the quality of life across Ogbomosoland.

Healthcare remains an important component of the development agenda, as access to essential medical services is closely connected to the social and economic well-being of the people.

The collaboration between the Funmi Adewole Foundation and the Healthcare and Medical Committee demonstrates the role that partnerships involving traditional institutions, charitable organisations, healthcare professionals and community members can play in addressing social needs.

The combination of medical services and food support also provided assistance in two important areas of household welfare within the period.

Calls for sustained community intervention

The successful completion of the five-day programme has further highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration in improving access to healthcare and supporting vulnerable residents.

Beyond immediate medical treatment and food assistance, continued efforts in preventive healthcare education, improved access to medical services and community support will remain important to the long-term welfare of residents.

The contribution of the Foundation, the commitment of the medical team and volunteers, and the support of Ogbomoso indigenes have demonstrated the value of collective action in advancing community development.

For the Soun’s 25-Year Development Plan, the broader objective remains the creation of an Ogbomosoland where residents can enjoy healthier lives, access opportunities and contribute meaningfully to the community’s future.

WOMAN | EDUCATOR | MENTOR

Therefore, to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin” James 4:17 (KJV).

Twenty-three years of marriage, my purpose remains the same even though my approach might change. I am a woman, a wife, mother, a teacher, a counselor, an educator, a sister, a mentor, a mentee, a loyal friend, a good listener and an encourager. I am by no means perfect, but I, Olufunmilayo M. Folashade Adewole, a person who Christ died for and redeemed from her sins; I am born again.

Bayo Adewole

The Funmi Adewole Foundation was borne out of a vision to reach underserved
communities by my late wife Funmilayo Adewole which was jointly experimented for a few years before her transition to glory. After her transition in 2013, the Funmi Adewole Foundation was formally inaugurated in consultation with some brethren in Jesus House Chicago.

provides scaling and polishing, tooth extraction. We also provide school supplies
and these include, bags, exercise books, pens, pencils, erasers, rulers, and so on.

As part of our commitment to education, we provide education scholarship to
deserving candidates and also conduct cancer awareness and health education at all these annual outreaches.
