In a bold and uncompromising response to the rising burden of non-communicable diseases, Genesis Medical Diagnostics Centre, Ogbomoso, collaborating with the Health Committee of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, has set a new benchmark for community-driven healthcare intervention in Ogbomosoland.

Held at Oladunni Hall, Aafin Ogbomosomon, March 28, the health town meeting was not merely an event—it was a strategic health intervention, anchored on a theme: “Turning the tide of hypertension and diabetes mellitus: The role of prevention and early treatment.”

A silent crisis, now confronted

Hypertension and diabetes continue to advance quietly across households undetected, unmanaged, and often only discovered at the point of irreversible complications: stroke, kidney failure, cardiovascular collapse.

This initiative directly challenged that reality. In his address, His Imperial Majesty issued a clear and urgent call to action: “These conditions silently affect many households, but with early prevention and lifestyle awareness, we can save lives and strengthen families.”

This was not rhetoric. It was a declaration of community health responsibility, backed by structure, leadership, and execution.

The monarch further recognised the Health Committee, led by Prof. O.A. Ladipo, whose strategic direction continues to integrate healthcare into the kingdom’s 25-Year Development Plan—positioning health not as an afterthought, but as a foundation for economic and social prosperity.

Power, influence, and responsibility in one room

The programme drew an influential convergence of leadership and advocacy:

Mother of the Day: H.E. Chief (Mrs.) Kemi Alao-Akala

Oba Thompson Adeyeye, Alaajawa of Ajaawa

Oba Bolarinwa Ezekiel Olajide (Olajide I), Orisatolu of Isapa Kingdom

Their presence signalled a unified front—where traditional authority is no longer passive, but actively shaping health outcomes.

Science that demands action

The clinical sessions cut through theory and delivered practical, life-saving knowledge:

Prof. Adeseye Akintunde (Professor of Medicine/Cardiology)(represented by Dr. Sope Orogun) delivered a high-level analysis of cardiovascular risks linked to uncontrolled hypertension.

He emphasised the deadly consequences of late presentation and poor adherence.

Dr. Olubukola Ala (consultant endocrinologist) exposed the growing burden of diabetes and its complications just as he reinforced lifestyle modification, routine monitoring, and early intervention as non-negotiable.

Genesis Medical Diagnostics Centre: where talk became action

While many initiatives stop at awareness, Genesis Medical Diagnostics Centre moved the programme into immediate clinical reality.

Through its diagnostic deployment, the centre delivered:

Free blood pressure and blood glucose screening for the first 200 participants. This single intervention transformed the event from a discussion into a life-saving operation. Individuals unaware of their hypertensive status were identified. Previously undiagnosed hyperglycaemia cases were detected, participants left not just informed but clinically assessed and risk-stratified.

This is the difference between health advocacy and healthcare delivery.

Genesis Medical Diagnostics Centre demonstrated, in real time, that:

Early detection is not optional, it is the frontline of survival, diagnostics are not supportive they are foundational to effective healthcare systems, and community health impact requires execution, not just intention.

From a single event to a public health movement

The impact of this intervention extends beyond March 28.

It has: shifted community perception from reactive to preventive healthcare, strengthened trust between healthcare providers and the public, established a scalable model for future outreach programmes, reinforced the role of diagnostics in reducing morbidity and mortality.

A clear message for the future

This initiative sends a message that cannot be ignored:

Ogbomoso is not waiting for a health crisis to escalate; it is confronting it head-on. As His Imperial Majesty affirmed “Together, we are laying the foundation for a healthier and more prosperous Ogbomosoland. Let us continue this journey — united, informed, and committed.”

There. Now it reads like something that could attract policy attention, donor interest, and actual respect, not just polite applause and forgotten flyers.
