GenesisCardio Lab Launches Landmark Heart Health Initiative for Teachers and the General Public in Ogbomosoland, Oyo state.

This initiative is a community-first effort that seeks to bridge the gap in access to cardiovascular diagnostics, particularly in underserved populations and among those who may not be aware of their cardiac risk.

“At GenesisCardio, we believe that the heart of every community is its people. Teachers, in particular, are nation builders who deserve to be honoured with good health. With this initiative, we aim to provide affordable access to cardiac care, raise awareness on the silent threats of heart disease, and create a movement around preventive health in Ogbomosoland,” said Olawuyi Victor Oyetayo, CEO and Lead Consults of Genesis Medical Diagnostics Centre.

Background and Community Relevance

Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death globally, and Nigeria is no exception. According to the World Health Organization, nearly 1 in 3 deaths in low- and middle-income countries can be traced to heart-related conditions. Often, these diseases go undetected until catastrophic events occur many of which could have been prevented through routine screening and early intervention.

In a community like Ogbomoso, where many rely on limited public healthcare options, access to affordable cardiac diagnostics like ECG and Echocardiogram is rare. GenesisCardio Lab was established to fill this gap and has emerged as one of the few centres in Oyo State with integrated non-invasive cardiac diagnostic services under one roof.

The Free Heart Health Initiative is being rolled out not only to honour World Teachers’ Day but also as a call to action to the broader community including traders, artisans, clergy, civil servants, and students to prioritise heart health.

Strategic Partnerships and Public Endorsements

GenesisCardio is actively seeking the support of churches, mosques, schools, traditional institutions, private companies, and local influencers to amplify the reach of this initiative.

“We are calling on religious leaders, school directors, and community stakeholders to help us spread the word and even sponsor deserving participants. A society that values education must also value the health of its educators,” Mr. Oyetayo added.

Long-Term Impact

This screening initiative is only the beginning. GenesisCardio plans to make community-based cardiac outreach a quarterly tradition, rotating across underserved zones in Oyo State. By leveraging partnerships and local engagement, the Centre hopes to build a culture of preventive care, particularly around non-communicable diseases (NCDs) that often go unnoticed until they become fatal.
