Need to commend Gov Makinde on his recent outburst against banditry, by Fatai ADEWUYI

Frankly, the abduction of school children and their teachers by bandits in Oyo state has defied all methods to secure their release, every strategic move has been defied. This is because of its uniqueness compared with the previous ones elsewhere.

Is it its brutality or the duration that one will talk about, which have made the public to lose hope and confidence in the government?

So, for Governor Seyi Makinde to have come out with the decision of zero compensation and vigorous attack on the bandits is highly commendable. The strategy mapped out to secure the release as stated in his speech recently are proof of his seriousness and readiness to eliminate banditry in Oyo state.

His sincerity is exemplified in his promise to lay down his life if that would bring the safe release of the abductees. His boldness coupled with his sense of responsibility is put to question here for he is known for being a man of his words.

He vows that this banditry in Oyo state would not be like that of Chibok that ended in futility, saying that this one shall be the end of banditry in the state!

He therefore needs to be supported; the public should play its part too. Let us appreciate him for this bold step and with prayer, banditry in Oyo state shall be eliminated and the children and their teachers shall be safely released. Aamin.
