The Police boss thanked the Soun for his effort so far, which he said ensures maintenance of peace in the community, emphasizing that no stone is being left unturned to bring the captives back home safely.
“I thank you very much for the effort you have made in securing the state and ensuring peace especially in view of the incident of Oriire local government; the part you have played to make sure that the community is able to cope with the situation while we are making efforts that the children and their teachers are brought home safely.
“The Police and other security agencies in the country are working very, very hard to ensure our teachers and children are safely brought back home and I believe very strongly that soon they will join us. We are working assiduously including the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces to make sure that they are freed.”
He said he would report back to the Inspector General of Police on efforts being made at their level to ensure the release of the captives and prevent future occurrence.
“I will give situation report to the IGP not only to ensure the release of those in captivity but also to put measures in place to prevent re-occurrence. We will also make sure that the state as a whole is very peaceful.”
This is as he commended the Oyo state Commissioner for Police for the successful rescue of the recent kidnapped victims in Ibadan and the arrest of the culprits. “I want to assure you that the country is secure and safe because it is only when the country is secure and safe that we can talk of prosperity,” he added.
He again appreciated the Soun “for his efforts and for his contributions to various national discourses.”

Soun in his remark earlier, expressed confidence that the community would overcome the challenge noting that Ogbomoso was never overcome by war. He appreciated the government and security agencies for their efforts in working to secure the release of the captives.
He however said the problem had made the community more united and that it would come out stronger.
“This is a critical time in our community; we appreciate all the efforts of the government. We always pride ourselves as a valiant city, that Ogbomoso is never conquered, this is very alien to us, and that is what gives us the confidence that we will overcome and our community will come out stronger. It has also united us as a community, so, I want to appreciate you for coming.”
He mentioned some of the contributions of the community in assisting the police, “We donated a police post at Abepe area, we got someone in the town to execute the project which we handed over to the Area Commander. There is another Divisional Police Headquarters ongoing, the whole idea is that we know how important policing is. It is almost finished. We intend to do five more. We hope the police will also support us.”
