‘Let vision and direction drive you this year,’ Philosopher King, Oba Ghandi, charges in another new year message

The imperative of setting vision has been re-emphasized as the Year 2026 begins to unfold.

“Every meaningful journey begins with vision — a clear understanding of where you are going and who you are becoming.”

That is the fulcrum of another New Year message of the Soun of Ogbomosoland His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III, to his subjects and all Nigerians at large.

A pastor, the royal father has established himself as a philosopher with several philosophical perspectives which have been shaping his reign and forming the bedrock of his transformative agenda in his domain.

In this new message, the traditional ruler dwells on the importance of vision stressing vision is miles ahead of dreams. He avers vision is the unshakable foundation of greatness noting it gives purpose, direction and verve, and affirms he gains this credible insight from years of experiences in leadership and life.

To him, having vision is everything, and he so challenges all to be driven by unassailable vision while submitting that talents, potentials and ability mean nothing without vision.

He asserts only a life driven by vision would successfully bear imprints that are sustainable and enduring.

Titled, “Your future deserves direction,” Oba Olaoye, in a social media post, writes, “Through life and leadership, I have learned a timeless truth: greatness is never accidental. Every meaningful journey begins with vision — a clear understanding of where you are going and who you are becoming. Without vision, days quietly turn into years, and years pass without lasting impact. But with vision, even the smallest step is filled with purpose, and every season of life finds its meaning.

“I have encountered individuals richly blessed with talent, opportunity, and good intentions, yet held back by one missing element — direction. Vision is more than the ability to dream; it is the compass that guides destiny. When vision leads, choices become clearer, sacrifices gain value, and challenges find context. Life ceases to drift and begins to move intentionally toward fulfillment.

“As we step into this new year, I urge you not to carry yesterday’s uncertainty into tomorrow’s promise. Take time to reflect, pray, plan, and clearly define your vision.
