First, let’s congratulate ourselves on the occasion of Nigeria’s Democracy Day, today, June 12. Wishing us more years of celebration in good condition. Even as we charge our leaders to do more to make democracy not only count but rewarding. But the citizens need also to restructure their mindset for positivity and go forward with renewed determination to make the best of the opportunities still available, after all, many still make it big in the midst of general complaining. It shall be well.
Meanwhile, the crux of my piece is to still remind our people in government at the federal level and those who have the ears of President Bola Tinubu and of those who matter in his government, of the abandoned Federal Government projects in Ogbomoso zone. We are appreciative of the recent resurgence towards the completion of the Ogbomoso – Oyo section of the new Ibadan – Ilorin dual carriageway. This is a big relief in view of the hell the old road had turned into. We are not unawares of the invaluable role played by Dr Zach Adelabu Adedeji, the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), and one other unnamed person, in the approval granted by President Tinubu for the road project, as per an interview by Senator Fatai Buhari. Kudos!

Building on this, we implore these our valiant men to intensify efforts to getting works restored in other areas as well. These projects as a quick reminder include the 132kv power substation at Temidire/Ajeja along Iresapa road, the passport office of the Nigerian Immigration Service, the Federal Fire Service (already approved for Ogbomoso), Police Secondary School at Odanbon, Federal Health Centre at Pakiotan, Federal Skill Acquisition Centre, mini stadiums spread across the zone, and others. These, if revisited and completed, will help in the reviltalization of the economy of the zone. We also encourage them to press the necessary buttons for the construction of access roads to the permanent site of the Federal Polytechnic Ayede in Ogo-Oluwa local government area to facilitate the relocation from the temporary site at Iresapa. Fixing the access roads from Idi-Araba, Ajaawa, Oolo and Odo-Oba will do the magic and enhance living in that axis of Ogbomoso. The polytechnic is already making name for itself with breathtaking accomplishments; operating from its permanent abode will amplify its contributions towards a greater Ogbomoso and Nigeria as a whole.

Furthermore, we implore them to also ramp up siting of other developmental projects in this zone. We are also grateful for the location of a campus of NACUS (Nigerian Academy for Cultural Studies) in Ogbomoso, an initiative aimed at driving national development through cultural consciousness, billed to takeoff in September as a monothecnic. Whoever facilitated this to our zone will forever receive God’s favour.
We charge us to continue to bring opportunities; it’s what we are able to accomplish to expand the horizon of the zone that we will be cherished and remembered for. No one will do it for us if we don’t do it. Dr Adedeji is believed to be the brain behind the financial buoyancy Nigeria now enjoys, we urge him to strive more for his impact to be more greatly felt. Chief Sunday Dare, Dr. Fatai Buhari, Hon Lamiju Alao-Akala, Hon Sunday Makanjuola, Hon Wumi Oladeji, Chief Segun Odebunmi, Dr Segun Adekunle, Prof Adeshola Adepoju, Architect Shakiru Soara (your silent efforts are commendable) and others we may not know, we plead with you, make more push to push Nigeria greater and especially your birthplace. Your eminent positions and statuses in this administration shouldn’t leave Ogbomoso with litany of abandoned projects or short of projects.
Ohun a arise larika…
Time is short speed is of essence.
