It is no more news that Fapote in Oriire local government area, near Ogbomoso, has been selected as a pilot site for the N80b South West Development Commission (SWDC)’s rural transformation programme (Transformed Communities Programme, TransComs).

 

It is a revolutionary initiative of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to improve living standards in rural communities and by 2030, it is estimated 137 communities would have been covered across Southwest Nigeria.

Below is the schematic visualization of the TransCom design for Fapote and its adjoining villages in Orire LGA is now mapped out.

 

At the center sits Fapote, marked as the Central Hub, with cooperative barns, silos, and tractors symbolizing agriculture as the nucleus. Radiating outward are:

  • Village A (northwest): farm clusters for staple crops.
  • Village B (northeast): livestock and poultry farms.
  • Southwest: an Agricultural Training Centre for youth and women, linked to extension services.
  • Southeast: a Community Health Centre with eco-housing and schools.
  • Directly south: an Agro-Industrial Park for processing, storage, and solar-powered facilities.
  • West of Fapote: a Cooperative Credit Union for microfinance and savings.
  • Southwest fields: irrigation systems and green farming plots.

Here’s a phased implementation roadmap for the Fapote TransCom in Orire LGA, Oyo State — designed to roll out the transformation step-by-step with agriculture at the centre:

 

🟢 Short-Term (Year 1–2): Foundation Phase

Goal: Establish core infrastructure, build trust, and activate community participation.

Key Actions:

  • Form community cooperatives and register them legally.
  • Launch pilot farm clusters in Fapote and adjoining villages.
  • Construct basic farm-to-market roads and footbridges.
  • Set up Cooperative Credit Union for microloans and savings.
  • Begin training programs for youth and women in agro-skills.
  • Install solar-powered irrigation systems on pilot plots.
  • Mobilize local leaders and stakeholders for governance structure.
