Ayede Poly: Newly recruited staff yet to receive salaries 6 months after, as rector says’, ‘We’re working on it’

About 300 staff were recently recruited at the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, Ogbomoso, Oyo state, eliciting joy within their families but it is not yet uhuru as over 100 of the new appointees are yet to receive a dime as salaries six months after assuming duty.

According to investigations by ogbomosoinsightonline.com, the affected appointees were issued letters of appointment in March, 2026, after which they were captured on the GIFMIS portal with instructions to assume duties on June 1, 2026. Furthermore, it was stated that a verification exercise was carried out, the outcome was however the discovery that some names were missing despite having their letters and captured by GIFMIS.

Thus, since they assumed duty, they have not been captured in the payment voucher while those unaffected have received one or two salaries.

This development has thus fueled speculations that the affected staff might have been denied the appointment after all.

However, the rector, Dr. Isiaka Tunji Adelabu, who recently assumed duty as second substantive rector, disclosed that the management was working on resolving the impasse.

Dr. Adelabu during a telephone chat with Ogbomoso Insight revealed it was a problem he inherited but that he considered it as one of the liabilities which he must resolve justly.

“Yes, but the whole problem was before I came. The recruitment exercise was actually done before I was appointed as the rector of the institution. But when such happens you inherit the both liabilities and assets. I have accepted it. Sincerely, I am seriously working on it. But I can’t continue to tell people the details in order not to jeopardize the process.”

Asked if he’s therefore assuring the appointments would be normalized, he remarked, “I wouldn’t have wanted to talk on it but since you asked, I will say this. Three things are to be done to get it normalized. But I have done two successfully. It only remains one and it is because of it that I travelled to Abuja.” He nonetheless refused to speak more on it.

Some of the affected staff spoken to confirmed the development but refused to say beyond that. One of them who spoke on condition of anonymity lamented, “We have confidence in the efforts of the new rector; he has assured us we will laugh in the end; we pray his efforts by God’s grace will yield positively. We can’t afford to lose the job. Many of us resigned from our former works to come here. Many have gotten accommodation in Iresaapa (temporary site) and Ogbomoso, where do they want us to go to?”

Another declared, “We have patiently waited for further communication from the management regarding this development. Unfortunately, the uncertainty surrounding our situation has persisted, throwing us into anxiety regarding our future and the status of the appointments at hand. We are in financial mess as we left our former jobs, paid new rents but now no salaries since June 1.”
