BREAKING: Tinubu fires Emefiele as CBN Governor

Central Bank Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, CFR, has been suspended from office with immediate effect by President Bola Tinubu.
According to a press release by the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) signed by Willie Bassey, Director of Information on behalf of the SGF George Akume, he is suspended following an ongoing investigation of his office and the review to be instituted in the financial sector of the economy.
“This is sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.
“Mr Emefiele has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who will act as the Central Bank Governor pending the conclusion of investigation and the reforms.”
Emefiele ogbomosoinsightonline.com recalls threw Nigerians in untold hardships earlier in the year when he introduced naira swap policy occasioned by introduction of new redesigned naira notes i.e. N200, N500 and N1000.
The poorly implemented policy characterized by scarcity of the redesigned notes in the face of old ones seizing to become legal tender elicited a lot of sufferings, a development that made Senator Bola Tinubu then presidential candidate of All Progressive Congress to lament the policy was targeted to harm his ambition.
Tinubu assured he would revisit the policy if elected as president.
