Let us honour our fallen heroes: A call for a vault and sculptural busts for the 3 teachers of Oriire LGA, by OluBunmi ODEWUMI

The teaching profession is a noble one. Teachers are nation builders. They shape our children, our future, and our society.

But on a dark day in Oriire Local Government Area, that nobility was met with tragedy. Three of our teachers lost their lives during the abduction of pupils and teachers. They stood to protect, to guide, and to serve. They paid the ultimate price.

Today, their names risk being forgotten in the noise of daily news. But a people that forgets its heroes has no future. Thank God we commend and appreciate all encouragement given in cash and in kind. Alas! We must not forget to secure the future of the widows they left behind.

OUR PROPOSAL: A VAULT AND SCULPTURAL BUSTS OF HONOR

In memory of heroes and heroines, vaults are constructed. For example, for the late Premier of the Western Region, Chief S.L. Akintola, a befitting vault and sculptural bust were erected to immortalize his service and sacrifice to the people.

We are calling on well-meaning individuals, corporate organizations, NGOs, and government to sponsor the construction of a Memorial Vault and Sculptural Busts for our 3 fallen teachers of Oriire LGA_.
