The proposal by WAEC on Computer Based Examination (CBE) is quite laudable and commendable. However, there is need for consultations with stakeholders like the Ministry of Education, principals and teachers, educators and curriculum planners to ferret out their opinions on selected subjects, this is paramount and essential.

In my opinion, Art subjects like English Language, Literature-in-English, History, Government, Citizenship and Heritage Studies and all indigenous languages should be exempted from the objective aspect of the CBE. They should not be among the selected subjects. The major reason being that they require human intellectual ability in their writing. This will curb too much reliance on Artificial Intelligence that has taken prominence in our academic circle. So, if students are not trained to use their intellectual ability by having written essay examinations they would grow to rely on AI, thereby killing their native intelligence.

Wishing WAEC right direction.
