Good time is ahead of public schools in Ogbomoso zone as the Soun of Ogbomosoland His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III has instituted a reward system aimed at motivating excellence.
Disclosing the initiative at the 3rd edition of the townhall meeting held at Iresaadu, headquarters of Surulere local government, Thursday, the Oba said “We are instituting a reward initiative to encourage our teachers to teach their students and encourage excellence.”

He disclosed henceforth each school with the best results (in WAEC) in the five local government areas in Ogbomoso zone would be gifted ₦1m.

“The school with the best result in each of the five local governments in Ogbomoso zone will be awarded a sum of ₦1m. It is to encourage our teachers to teach the students to attain excellence,” the Oba added. “Education is crucial and we want our children in Ogbomoso to pursue education to higher level. It is only through this they can have a chance at sitting at decision-making tables in the future. We detest them manning the gates or entrance doors. Parents especially mothers should give their all to ensure their children are serious and well educated.”

The monarch also announced the best student in each of the local government would be awarded scholarship for university education and that such students would be invited for a “Dinner with the Soun.”

He emphasized “We must change the narrative and push forward in our desire to transform Ogbomoso into a denser and smart city. And education of our children is vital in this direction.”
He also reiterated his plan to distribute 50, 000 exercise books to public primary schools’ pupils in the zone in September at the beginning of another academic session.
