Students across Ogbomosoland were beneficiaries of at least N5.6m (five million six hundred thousand naira) bursary awards recently, courtesy of Ogbomoso Pivotal Club, Lagos.

The award ceremony held last Saturday at Ogunlola Hall, Oja’gbo, Ogbomoso, captured, 20 tertiary (N2m), 40 secondary (N1.6m), and 80 Government Technical College (N2m), students.

It is an annual cash gifts by the club aimed at relieving parents and students of financial burdens in their academic pursuits.

The twenty tertiary students would enjoy the largesse till they finish their studies; and for the other categories, the money would assist in the payment of their final exams’ fees, WASSCE and NABTEB as the case may be.

Principal of Government Technical College Dn Kehinde Adebiyi, commended the body, saying, “this kind gesture would help many of our final year students sit for NABTEB next year. Many could not this year because they weren’t able to pay the exams fees. Ogbomoso Pivotal Club has given a big leap. More power to their elbow.”

The club was formed in 1992 in Lagos by high flying Ogbomoso indigenes borne by passion for their place of origin. Aside its education support programmes, it has intervened in several other developmental projects including supply of medical equipment to hospitals particularly Bowen University Teaching Hospital and the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital.
