Tijanniyat Brotherhood honours distinguished members

The Tijanniyat Brotherhood Worldwide Ogbomoso branch has conferred awards on some distinguished members, in recognition of their contributions to the propagation of the sect and Islam in general both in Ogbomoso and throughout Nigeria.

The award ceremony held Saturday, September 12 at the old eid praying ground, opposite LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, among others, presentation of a lecture, delivered by Imam Kere, a renowned Islamic scholar, on the importance of awards, emphasizing the need for awardees to be steadfast in faith and not to be arrogant on account of honours received.

Among those given awards are Jarariyat members including Sheikh Yissa Zakariyyah, Mukadam Olokitti and Olakuran.

Islamic scholars present included Imam of Soun Palace Sheik Imam Habibulahi Ayilara; Baba Atunise; Mukadam Sheu; Alefa Taimiyu Titilope Alijafari; Imam Woleola; and Imam Arowojebe Aslaf. Also, Alaroje of Aroje, HRH Iwinkunle; Iba Abogunde, HRM Iba Tajudeen Aminu, were some of the royal fathers in attendance.

The Tijanniyat Brotherhood sect founded by Sheikh Amada Tijani and got deeply propagated by Sheik Ibrahim Nais Senegalese, has grown to have branches all over the world. The sect derived its origin from Sufism, a belief in purification of the soul and existence of Waliyats or Saints. Though Muslims believe that Prophet Muhammad, SAW, is the last prophet Sufism makes Muslims understand that there are Saints or Waliyats that Allah still communicate with because of their devotion. The sect is led in Ogbomoso by Shiek Atoromola Ojuabere.

The Islamic movement also believes in intellectual development and rational principles of human existence. They are not fanatics but spiritually-inclined.
