OGBOMOSO: APM House of Rep’s candidate Oke LEGACY awards full scholarships to 3 Esinele pupils, 6 orphans

The candidate of the Allied People’s Congress (APM) for Ogbomoso Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. John Abisoye Adisa-Oke, has awarded full scholarships to nine students from across Ogbomoso, including children from communities affected by abduction and other indigent and orphaned students.

The beneficiaries, comprising three students from Ahoro-Esinele and Yawota in Oriire local government area and six other indigent and orphaned children, were formally presented with their scholarship offers Saturday at the premises of Best Legacy Group of Schools, Abisara Memorial Estate, Oke-Owode, Ogbomoso.

The intervention is part of Oke LEGACY’s continued commitment to expanding access to education and supporting children whose educational journeys may be threatened by financial hardship, vulnerability or difficult circumstances.

The three students from Esinele and Yawota, communities that have experienced the impact of abduction, were awarded full scholarships as part of the intervention. They are: Bello Hazan (SSS 1), Jimoh Fatimoh (SSS 1) and Abioye Barakat (SSS 1).

The six other beneficiaries who also received full scholarships are Hakeem Faith Ashabi (JSS 1), Akinola Oluwatoyin (SSS 2), Olusola Praise Dorcas (JSS 1), Olushola Precious Abigail (JSS 2), Olushola Peace Oluwatiresimi (Primary 2) and Idowu Olawumi Elizabeth (JSS 1).

Speaking through his representative at the presentation, Hon. John Abisoye Adisa-Oke said the intervention was rooted in the conviction that no child should be deprived of the opportunity to receive a quality education because of circumstances beyond their control.

He stressed that education remains one of the most important investments that can be made in the future of Ogbomoso, adding that every effort should be made to keep children in school and give them the support required to fulfil their potential.

According to him, the scholarship programme is not merely about covering the cost of schooling but also about giving children and their families a renewed sense of hope and confidence in the future.

He encouraged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously, make good use of the opportunity and strive for excellence in their academic pursuits.

The presentation was attended by community leaders, political stakeholders and representatives from Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire local government areas, reflecting broad community support for initiatives aimed at improving educational opportunities for children.

Among those present were Hon. M.A. Oguns, former chairman of the PDP, Ogbomoso South; Hon. Taiwo Alagbe, former Executive Chairman, Ogbomoso South; Hon. George Ogunlade, incumbent Executive Chairman, Ogbomoso North local government; Hon. Rotimi Oladipo, APM candidate for Ogbomoso South local government in the forthcoming local government election; Hon. Damilare Amusan, chairman, Governing Council, College of Technology, Ibarapa; and Hon. Jelili, member, Governing Council, LAUTECH.

Some others were Hon. Tunji, Leader of the Ogbomoso South Legislative Arm; Hon. Rasheed Jimoh, APM chairman, Ogbomoso South; Hon. Sikiru, APM Alliance Party chairman, Ogbomoso North; Hon. Oloya, APM Alliance Party chairman, Oriire; Hon. Janet Oyewole, former woman leader, Oriire; Hon. Bola Olaniyi, secretary, Ogbomoso North local government; Hon. Sherifat, woman leader, Ogbomoso North; Alhaji Amzat, former PDP chairman, Ogbomoso North; and Hon. Emmanuel Oladejo, member, Oyo State Local Government Service Commission.
