NDC candidate, Ogbomoso federal constituency, Adegbite, to launch massive skill acquisition, empowerment prog

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Ogbomoso North/South/Oriire federal constituency Dr Kunle Adegbite will Wednesday launch a massive skill acquisition and empowerment programme for residents.

According to a press statement by Seun Olalere, the event will hold at three centres i.e. Anglican Grammar School, Baptist Secondary Grammar School (both in Ogbomoso) and Basic School, Ikoyi Ile.

“It is a programme designed to provide relief for the people of the constituency both immediate and long term reliefs,” the statement notes.

“We believe in teaching people to fish rather than giving them fish every time.

“Dr Adegbite holds that if one hundred people are bequeathed with relevant skills and supported, more than half may end up making headway in life. Then, the programme will encompass doling out packages to residents for immediate relief.”

Olalere informed that the beneficiaries will be trained in photography, decoration, graphic design, cream and soap making, phone repair, bead making, pedicure, makeup, auto gele, cake making among others.

“This is not something Dr Adegbite is just getting involved in, he has been immersed in philanthropic activities like these in the past, so, it is not politics that imposes this on him.

“In fact, those who know his antecedent dragged him to represent the constituency,” the spokesman added.

Adegbite is the founder and chairman of Twindad Foundation, the proprietor of Twindad Orphanage Home, Hamama area, Ogbomoso. He in the past donated boreholes to communities, organises annual football competition, recently unveiled plans to sponsor the education of children of a victim of Oriire abduction, among other philanthropic gestures.
