Three of the kidnapped but rescued pupils in Oriire local government area of Oyo state have been offered full scholarships from primary school to higher institution.
This is courtesy of the candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) for Ogbomoso North/South/Oriire Federal Constituency in the forthcoming general election, Hon John Adisa-Oke LEGACY.
According to Hon Oke-Legacy, who is the chairman of Best Legacy College of Education, which incorporates primary and secondary schools’ sections, the gesture is under his scholarship programme, and covers the beneficiaries’ tuition, boarding fees, learning materials, and other necessary educational expenses.

He explained through his representatives comprising Mr. Joseph Sangolade, Mr. Olasunkanmi Oketayo, and Mr. Obajemu Victor, who presented the scholarship at Ahoro-Esinele/Yawota, that the gesture was an intervention to identify with the victims disclosing the beneficiaries would enjoy the scholarship up to higher institution level. “The support will continue from their primary education through to college, giving the beneficiaries the opportunity to pursue their education without the burden of financial constraints,” it was stated.
Meanwhile, it was disclosed the community is given the opportunity to pick the children that will benefit the scholarship. “We don’t know them but the community does and so we have given them the latitude through the chief of the community HRH Tajudeen Azeez to pick the beneficiaries and submit their names to us. The offer starts in September when new academic session begins,” Oke Legacy informed through his representatives.
They emphasized the “intervention is aimed at helping the children return to their education and rebuild a sense of normalcy after the traumatic experience they endured.”

While speaking with ogbomosoinsightonline.com on the initiative, Oke LEGACY emphasized that the recent ordeal suffered by the children should not be allowed to define their future.
He further noted, “Beyond celebrating their safe return, there is a responsibility to support their recovery and ensure that they remain in school and have the opportunity to fulfill their potentials. Our school have boarding facilities and so they will attend our school up till secondary level and thereafter they choose the institution they will go and we will still support them.”
The scholarship intervention is part of Oke LEGACY’s broader commitment to educational support and community development. Since 2020, Oke has supported the education of the son of the late Jimoh Isiaq, a young Nigerian, who was killed in Ogbomoso during the #EndSARS protest. Over the years, he has similarly supported hundreds of youths through scholarships and other forms of educational assistance across Ogbomoso and its environs.
