Oriire rescue: Oke LEGACY lauds Makinde, Soun, security agencies, calls for rehabilitation of victims

Hon. Dr. John Adisa Oke LEGACY, House of Representatives’ candidate for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for Ogbomoso North/Ogbomoso South/Oriire federal constituency has joined others to laud the safe rescue of the Oriire children and teachers abducted on May 15, 2026.

He registered his happiness describing the development as a moment of relief and thanksgiving.

“I receive with immense joy the news of the safe return of the schoolchildren and teachers who were abducted in Oriire Local Government Area 56 days ago.

“This is indeed a moment of relief and thanksgiving for their families, loved ones, and the entire people of Ogbomoso and Oyo State, who have remained steadfast in prayers and hope throughout this difficult period. After weeks of anxiety and uncertainty, we are grateful that these innocent lives have been returned safely.”

Lauding the governor, the Soun of Ogbomosoland His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege lll, other stakeholders and security agents, Oke LEGACY submitted, “I sincerely commend the gallant security agencies, the Oyo State government under Governor Seyi Makinde, HRM Soun of Ogbomosoland, religious and other traditional leaders who worked tirelessly, often at great personal risk, to secure their release. I also pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. May Almighty God grant them eternal rest and continue to comfort and strengthen their families.”

Oke LEGACY, who is the chairman of Best Legacy College of Education, Ogbomoso, stressed that the victims need to as a matter of urgency undergo medical care, rehabilitation and support to reintegrate them fully back into the society.

“Our collective responsibility must now be to ensure that the rescued children and teachers receive the care, rehabilitation, and psychosocial support they need to recover from this traumatic experience.”

This is as he prayed such ugly incident would never occur again.

“May such an unfortunate incident never befall our communities again, and may peace and security continue to reign across Oriire, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, and Nigeria.”
