Soun, Buhari, fmr First Lady, Wumi Oladeji present as Adebayo Alao Akala College of Health Sciences holds maiden matriculation

The Adebayo Alao Akala College of Health Sciences (AAACOHS), Ogbomoso, Wednesday, July 1, held its maiden matriculation ceremony.

 

Several dignitaries including the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye (represented by the Areago of Ogbomosoland, High Chief Sobalaje Otolorin and some other chiefs); Senator Fatai Buhari (represented by Prince Ololade Bello); Chief Mrs. Oluwakemi Alao-Akala (former First Lady of Oyo state and Yeye Bobagunwa of Ogbomosoland), Pastor Mrs. Florence Alao-Akala; Hon Wumi Oladeji (former legislator), Rev’d. Dr. Segun Oyelowo (Minister-in-Charge of First Baptist Church Okelerin, Ogbomoso), Dr. Adeyemi Aderinto (founder of SQI Polytechnic and ICT Centre) among others graced the occasion.

The Soun speaking through the Areago commended the founder and president of AAACOHS, Ms. Olamide Alao-Akala, for the initiative and for responding to the call to develop Ogbomosoland.

He noted Ms. Alao-Akala was emulating her father, late Chief Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, recalling that was why he was installed as Bobagunwa of Ogbomosoland, as he charged the matriculating students to be dedicated to their studies.

Ms. Alao-Akala, while congratulating the students, emphasized the future was here. She remarked the institution is committed to raising leaders for the future, asserting, “the future is sitting here with us.”

 

She added, “I am always passionate about Ogbomoso, this was inculcated into us by our father. My heart has always been on Ogbomoso. I always believe Ogbomoso deserves great things. We are equipping out students with knowledge, and focusing on education that develops leadership. Healthcare technology is evolving, and we are committed to this.”

Both the provost, Prof Ayoola Paul Babatunde and the Registrar, Dr Sunday Akintunde, also congratulated the pioneer students, while charging them to be dedicated to their academic pursuit. “It is a defining moment in the life of this institution. It is the beginning of a journey into discipline, knowledge, service, leadership and academic excellence. It confirms you have been duly admitted and now recognized as bonafide and pioneer students. We have a clear vision to unveil national leaders, competent health professionals, solution providers and nation builders. We won’t disappoint you parents and guardians. Your confidence in us is appreciated,” the Registrar, Dr Akintunde said.

 

This is as the Provost, Prof Babatunde, submitted, “I charge you to take your studies seriously, make sure you attend lectures, respect your lecturers, read consistently, and attend practical classes. The habits you formed today will determine the type of health professionals you will be tomorrow.” Also, he charged lecturers to be committed, just as he commended the president.
