Insecurity: Oyo  extends curfew in Oriire, 9 other LGAs

The Oyo state government has extended the curfew imposed on 10 local government areas bordering the old Oyo National Park, where bandits are believed to have made a hideout.

 

According to a press release signed by Prince Dotun Oyelade the Commissioner for Information, the curfew has been extended by 24 hours, giving that as timeline to conclude the rescue operation.

Recall few days ago, on Tuesday, the state government announced the curfew in the local government areas saying it would last for 48 hours.

 

The affected local governments are  Oriire, Orelope  Irepo Saki West and East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo and Atiba.

The extension, it is stated, is to consolidate government’s security efforts in putting an end to the captivity of “our children and teachers in Oriire local government and discouraging the marauders from their dark enterprise of making money through captivity and human blood.”

Gov Seyi Makinde pleaded with the Oyo state people to continue with their patience and trust in government to conclude the sad incident as soon as possible and decisively.
