Banditry at Oriire: Need to embrace peaceful coexistence, by Fatai ADEWUYI

Frank talk is crucial and imperative when it needs be told, it can serve as corrective measure or deterrence to others. Honestly and sincerely, one is not happy with the abduction of school children and their teachers from three communities in Orire local government area. It has thrown the whole Oyo State and the nation into panic, a state of confusion and pandemonium.

Yet, one needs to see the affront and the recklessness exhibited by the indigenes of the local government particularly Ikoyi people, when Oba Ghandi planned to visit the local government for the purpose of extending his developmental agenda to that area among which security was paramount. The affront which included assault on the personality of the Soun and direct confrontation against his emissaries among others are undesirable and might not be seen in alight mood by God who may see it as direct attack on His chosen or anointed King! No body has addressed this issue, though this might be bitter but yet it needs be addressed. For bi oju ba nse ipin, a n yo han ni, meaning we need to call a spade a spade and not working implements!

Most of the surrounding monarchs and wealthy individuals in Ogbomoso that instigated and supported the Ikoyi people to be recalcitrant in resisting Oba Ghandi’s visit are now helpless in the present predicament, they have withdrawn into their shell, the people of the local government are now facing the calamity alone it was even Oba Ghandi on his arrival from a trip abroad that first paid the afflicted people condolence visit among the Obas and non-politicians flexing muscle with him and even donated 30 bags of rice to the relatives of the ABDUCTEES!

We are saying this to advise people to seek for peaceful coexistence and work in harmony with constituted authorities both traditional and civil, for the progress, safety and development of our community. This is food for thought, when the wicked are suffering, it is regrettable that the innocent may have to partake. May Allah save the abductees with His divine intervention and chase the bandits away from our community state and the nation at large. Aamin
