Oriire abduction: Oyo govt dismisses viral release claim, says efforts ongoing

The Oyo state government has dismissed as false reports, circulating on social media claiming that the students, teachers and other victims abducted in Oriire local government area have regained their freedom.

 

The government urged members of the public to disregard the viral information, describing it as untrue and capable of creating confusion among families of the victims and concerned residents.

 

In a brief statement, the state government maintained that efforts toward securing the safe release of the abducted victims remain ongoing, assuring the public that necessary interventions are being pursued.

According to the government, discreet measures are still being undertaken to facilitate the release of those in captivity, expressing optimism that the efforts would yield positive results soon.

 

The statement further appealed to residents and members of the public to remain patient and avoid spreading unverified information regarding the situation.

 

“The viral video about the release of those abducted at Oriire in Oyo state is unfortunately untrue. The state government continues its discreet interventions, which we are very hopeful will yield the desired result soon. We thank all for their patience,” the statement read.

The government reiterated its commitment to securing the safe return of all the abducted victims and called for continued support and prayers from the public as efforts continue.

 

The victims, comprising students, teachers and other residents, were abducted in Oriire local government area, an incident that has continued to generate concern across Ogbomosoland and Oyo state.
