“Our colleagues and children have been in captivity for too long; government must do more”

Following a Progress Review Meeting held by the leadership and elders of NAPPS Ogbomoso District to assess developments in the ongoing efforts to secure the release of the abducted teachers, pupils, and students in Ahoro-Eshiele and surrounding communities, the Association has resolved to proceed with the Second Phase of its Solidarity Break should there be no significant breakthrough before Thursday, 4th June 2026.

The meeting was convened to review the progress made so far through engagements with the Federal Government, Oyo State Government, security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders, and other critical stakeholders since the unfortunate incident occurred.

NAPPS Ogbomoso District sincerely appreciates the efforts of the Oyo State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, the Federal Government, security agencies, His Imperial Majesty, the Soun of Ogbomosoland, traditional rulers, and all individuals working tirelessly behind the scenes towards securing the release of the victims.

We acknowledge that efforts are ongoing and that some progress has been recorded. However, despite these efforts, our colleagues and children remain in captivity.

For the affected families, every sunrise brings fresh anxiety. Every sunset brings unanswered questions. Parents continue to wait, pray and hope. Colleagues remain burdened with uncertainty, while communities continue to live with the emotional scars of this unfortunate incident.

The continued captivity of innocent teachers and school children is deeply troubling. Their prolonged absence from their homes, families, and classrooms is a painful reminder that more urgent action is still required.

Following the first phase of the Solidarity Break observed by private schools across Ogbomoso District on Friday, 22nd May 2026, the Association has carefully reviewed the situation and resolved that should there be no significant breakthrough by Thursday, 4th June 2026, all private schools under NAPPS Ogbomoso District shall proceed with the Second Phase of the Solidarity Break effective Friday, 5th June 2026, through Monday, 15th June 2026, believing God that our colleagues and children would have regained their freedom before then.

This action is not intended as a confrontation with government, nor is it aimed at disrupting academic activities. Rather, it is a peaceful expression of solidarity with the victims and their families, and a passionate call for greater urgency in ongoing rescue efforts.

While appreciating the interventions made so far, NAPPS Ogbomoso District respectfully appeals to the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government, security agencies, and all relevant authorities to intensify ongoing operations and deploy every available lawful resource necessary to secure the immediate and safe release of all abducted persons.

Our colleagues and children have been in captivity for too long.

Their suffering must not be prolonged. Their families deserve answers. Their communities deserve relief. Their freedom must remain a matter of urgent national concern.

The Association also wishes to state that all member schools remain willing and ready to contribute their widow’s mite, in whatever legitimate way necessary, towards supporting efforts aimed at fast-tracking the release of the victims.

NAPPS Ogbomoso District remains committed to advocacy, engagement, collaboration, and prayers until every teacher, pupil, and student in captivity is safely reunited with their loved ones.

Our message remains simple and clear:

BRING OUR COLLEAGUES HOME.

BRING OUR CHILDREN HOME.

NOW.
