According to information gathered by ogbomosoinsightonline.com the deceased was conveying his passengers two women from Ipeba (along Ogbomoso -Oyo road), in Oriire local government area to their village Ladanu which however is in Ogo-Oluwa local government area, when an unidentified motorcyclist who had been trailing them shot at them. Eyewitnesses informed, “they were trailed all the way from Ipeba up to the lonely point he was shot. The attackers were not Fulani herdsmen or bandits perhaps they were assassins or armed robbers. However, the okada was not taken away.”

The incident was confirmed by the Alajaawa of Ajaawa HRM Oba Thompson Adeyeye Oyetunji Olumole II. He however said it had nothing to do with Ajaawa, “That is in Oriire local government area, not Ajaawa. Though what is bad is bad and crime is crime. But Ajaawa and indeed Ogo-Oluwa local government is peaceful.”

Sources at Ajaawa Divisional Police headquarters also confirmed the incident though pointing out the scene of the attack was under the jurisdiction of Ikoyi-Ile Divisional Police headquarters.

“It is an heinous act but it happened in Oriire and not in Ogo-Oluwa local government. Ogo-Oluwa is peaceful.”

Meanwhile, investigations into the matter by the police have begun.
