“The Academic Staff Union of Universities, LAUTECH Branch met and discussed about the prolonged abduction of the wife of one of our colleagues Mrs Racheal Alamu, (wife of Prof L O Alamu), the Principal of Community High School Esin-Ele, Oriire LG alongside 45 others, who were abducted on May 15th, 2026 while on the line of their duty in their respective schools.

“While the Union acknowledges and salutes the efforts of the State Government towards securing their release, we are however disturbed that two (2) weeks on, the victims have not been released. More worrisome is the fact that these victims had been left at the mercy of the elements and without access to their essential medications and other needs.

“This calls for the need to expedite actions towards returning these victims safely to their families. We therefore call on the State Government and other stakeholders to please come to our aid in securing their release.

“In addition, our Union wishes to suggest that the State Government should look into the possibility of creating special security outfit for the security of all public institutions in the state.”
