Husband of Ogbomoso kidnapped principal ‘shocked’ by report he granted interview

Prof Wole Alamu, husband of the kidnapped principal of Community High School Ahoro-Esinele Ogbomoso in Oyo state, Mrs. Rachael Alamu, has disproved granting interview to any media house since his wife saga began.

It was widely reported Wednesday that he spoke with a radio station during which he purportedly disclosed rescue operation was being intensified (in order to secure the release of his wife and other victims). He was as well credited with urging restraints on divulging sensitive security information that could jeopardise the rescue operation just as he was said to have commended the Oyo state governor Engr Seyi Makinde and security agents for their efforts.

However, Prof Alamu, a university don, told ogbomosoinsightonline.com Wednesday night that he was shocked by the report, denying granting any media interview.

He in outright manner said he didn’t grant any interview to any media house.

“I was shocked by the report that l granted an interview crediting me with those statements. No, l didn’t! Truly, l am inundated with phone calls, but all what l have been saying is that God would take control (in securing the release of the victims). I didn’t say anything other than that. So, it is surprising l was credited with those comments,” Alamu disclosed, agitated.

Recall last Friday, 46 students and teachers were abducted by suspected bandits in three schools in Ahoro-Esinele and Yawota during which an Assistant Headteacher Mr. Joel Adesiyan and an unidentified motorcyclist were shot dead. The abductees included the principal of CHS Ahoro-Esinele, Mrs. Alamu, her two vice principals, four teachers and students/pupils from two neighbouring primary schools.

The abduction has been greeted with national outrage and a coordinated rescue operation has been launched by security agents to free the captives.
