Suffering: Bring back PTF or subsidy, by Marcus JADSON

At certain time in Nigeria when PMS was sold for less than one hundred Naira, the government of the day set up what was known as Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF), administered by a then thought-to-be-trustworthy individual as the head. At that time the money in the Trust Fund seemed much more than that of the government itself. A lot of development was witnessed in all facets of our economy. Roads, hospitals, drugs availability in the hospitals, various interventions in many other areas -agriculture, road infrastructures, welfare programmes, education, name it. The PTF was in fact like another source of blessings and was like another earning for the nation. Even though as Nigeria is, the operators stole to their satisfaction but people still had benefits socially and economically that improved their welfare to some extent.

So what happens now that petrol is sold more than hundred times than during PTF? A similar trust fund should be emplaced and money from the removal of subsidy should be administered by God fearing members of such expected managers of the trust fund, for the benefits of Nigerians instead of giving it to our governors who in return have more money to embezzle and steal to stupor. Enough of the diversion of this money to the drain which only benefits the President, his cronies in government, the governors and their cronies and relations and which in return bring more hardships, sufferings, poverty, insecurity of lives and properties to the masses.
Right from the beginning, I have suspected foulplay in the removal of the subsidy which is done only to enrich the authority and impoverish the masses. If this trust fund cannot be established and the gains of the subsidy used to cushion the astronomical suffering effect in the lives of the masses, then restore the fuel subsidy in the interest of the suffering masses.

Wishing us the masses a true independent day in the nearest future as we are yet to be truly independent. God bless Nigeria and Nigerians. May the Almighty God restore back the glory of Nigeria to Nigeria and Nigerians.
