Ogbomoso Ajisegiri Abuja expresses sadness, condolences over Oriire bandits’ attack

The Ogbomoso Ajisegiri, Abuja, has come out to vehemently denounce the brutal bandit’s attack at three schools in Oriire local area of Ogbomoso last week which resulted in killings of teachers and others and abduction of 46 persons including teachers and students/pupils in broad-day light. The abduction victims among whom was a two-year old are still in captivity six days after.

“This is a matter of serious concern to us; for bandits to have had the audacity to launch such brutal attack in broad-day light without being detected by security agents and also slipping away with over 40 captives, raises a lot of pertinent questions,” the socio-cultural organization noted in a statement signed by its chairman, Engr. Wole Adeshina. “People lost their lives gruesomely, it is regrettable, may God comfort the families of the dead, the community, Oyo state in general and His Excellency Engr Seyi Makinde.”

The association subsequently charged security agents to up their game in the discharge of their primary duty – protection of lives and property, adding, “We believe they can do more. Amotekun Corps can do more, DSS can do better, the police should do more, so also NCDSC, vigilante groups and then the entire citizenry. See something, say something, there is need for more vigilance.”

They stressed the bandits have transformed into fiends devoted to sucking blood of innocent people who must be wiped out. “These criminals are no longer human beings; they are now beasts who see killings and inflicting innocent people with pain and trauma as nothing. They should be apprehended immediately and made to face the law. Imagine toddlers, children (the oldest being 16 years), women, and others hideously kept in captivity, in strange conditions in the past six days in an uncharted forest. It is unfortunate, our heart bleeds.”

“The Nigerian security agents need to deploy technology to effect the rescue safely, they should emulate Mali in this which deployed technology in similar situation recently. With the right technology and effective use, the victims will be rescued unharmed and the perpetrators captured and prosecuted swiftly. Banditry shouldn’t be allowed to take root in our land. May God protect our land. Amen,” the statement concludes.
