Ogbomoso Parapo condemns bandits’ attack on Ahoro-Esinele, Yawota

Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye has joined in the widespread condemnation of the bandits’ attack on Ahoro-Esinele and Yawota in Oriire local government area of Oyo state, which resulted in the killing of a teacher and student as well as abduction of 46 others including seven teachers and a two year old baby.

The condemnation is contained in a press statement issued by the socio-cultural group and signed by national Ag. president, Alhaji Abdulrahim Adetayo Yusuf; general secretary, High Chief Okesanya Akintunde Balogun; and PRO, Com. T. M. Balogun.

“With great displeasure, we vehemently condemn the unfortunate attack that occured in Ahoro Esinele and Yawota in Oriire Local Government area of Oyo State, where the lives of the assistant headmaster of L. A. Basic School, Yawota and a student of a private school were lost, as well as the abduction of the principal of Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele (Mrs Rachael Alamu) and some of her teachers by suspected bandits. Students and pupils from the three schools were also abducted.

“We greatly sympathize with the families, communities and also everyone affected by this unfortunate event. We send our heartfelt condolences.”

The association urged government to be strategic in the rescue operation and to ensure all suspected criminals in the matter face prosecution. This is as it calls for a better security architecture to prevent future occurrence.

“We appeal to the Government to take necessary steps in rescuing the victims and bringing those that orchestrated this to justice. All perpetrators must be punished.

“We appeal for a reinforced security assurance, the safety of our people must be secured and the security of everyone should not have to be in jeopardy.”
