There is another town within this town—an abode where people, so to speak, who once lived, now inhabits. It has existed since before most of us were born.

It is a land where professionals, skilled and unskilled workers reside without disturbance from anywhere. In essence, it is called the land of silence because silence prevails in the community. There is neither darkness nor brightness; everything remains the same and unique.

The community lies before the Ogbomoso North Local Government Secretariat. It is also situated directly opposite the former rubber shoe factory at Isale General. The following are clearly noted: beside the road lie the vaults of Modele Akintola, the Premier’s daughter; Colonel Taiwo; and Justice Oyetunde, to mention but a few.

This is the community that houses thousands of souls from different homes in the land—the Ogbomoso Public Burial Ground.

Here, I commend the efforts of the Ogbomoso North Local Government for the periodic clearing of the community, and the bold, valiant, and strong efforts of the residents of Isale General in keeping the community neat.

The community needs fencing, which will make the arena more beautiful. Also, assigning workers for day and night guard duty will make the place more secure. It will improve accessibility for those whose loved ones are buried there. It will also prevent people from misusing the place and from unauthorized groups using it for bad purposes.

Alas! Can this place be compared with Sango Cemetery in Ibadan? Yet I am sure it can still look better if we deem it fit.

In conclusion, they were once like us. We should try to treat them well.

Thank you.
