Femi Oyeniran spoke on generative AI urging the principals to explore this to improve teaching and learning in schools.

This is as Mr. Favour Alabi imparted concise knowledge on digitising operations in schools especially as it regards administration.

The seminar was spiced with practical sessions just as various applications developed by SQI software engineers and other developers such as wayground, Edozzier (to monitor school’s activities), kahoot (to organise quiz) etc, were introduced to the participants.

“We should be able to embrace these technologies, we have remained on a spot for long, we need to embrace digitisation,” Odekomaya stated.

In his remark, founder and proprietor of SQI College Dr. Adeyemi Aderinto, charged parents and school administrators to support their children and students to attain success. “Let’s put what we have learnt to use especially in selection of courses for our children and students. This is aimportant because of their future, choosing these emerging courses will secure good jobs in the future unlike the traditional courses.

On Edozzier, Dr Aderinto submitted, ” “Edozzier was developed at SQI and is being used throughout Nigeria and beyond. It is useful for schools’ administrators and proprietors to monitor their schools and know what goes on. It is what l use to monitor our campuses across Nigeria.”

Also in his remark, titled, “Architects of the future: Leading with purpose in the AI era,” the Permanent Secretary/Inspector General of Education, Ogbomoso zone 1, Dr. Dele Oyedokun, expressed joy at the programme, submitting that “Our experience on the field shows we have a long way to go.”

Dr Oyedokun urged the principals to go back to their schools and implement what they had learnt, adding, “I see you as the ones who will help us to accomplish what we are envisioning. We are at a pivotal moment in our national educational journey.”

“The future of education is digital, so, we must key in, it is not an option.”

He charged them challenges like connectivity, structural deficiencies and others should not hamstring the digital transformation drive.

He added, “Let’s begin where we are, let’s start with the little ones we have. Let’s move from administrators to technology leaders. We have to be abreast of our students in order not to lag behind or be outsmarted. As we enter a pivotal year in 2026, the question is no longer whether we should adopt technology, but how we can use it to empower our teachers and inspire our students.”

“I want to urge you—as principals and directors—to be the architects of this transformation, not just spectators. The 21st-century educator is no longer just an instructor but a guide, a mentor, and a technological innovator,” Oyedokun further noted.

“Our future depends on our ability to adapt. As the permanent secretary, I pledge the Ministry’s continued support in providing infrastructure and updated policies, but I need you to lead this change from the front.

“Let us make our schools places where technology elevates teaching, where no child is left behind, and where we prepare our students for the reality of 2026 and beyond.”

In company with the PS/IG were some directors in the ministry including Mrs. Abosede Olabode, Mrs, Aderonke Kayode and Mr. Adisa.
