OPERATION CLEAN WATER FOR ALL: Soun to commission more boreholes today

Soun of Ogbomosoland His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III will today Monday commission more boreholes in Ogbomoso zone in accordance with his pet project – “Operation clean water for all,” which he recently launched.

Today, the Oba will visit Jabata and Iwofin, communities in Surulere local government area to perform the commissioning ceremony.

Recall last week Friday, motorised boreholes were commissioned in four communities – Ile-Abu, Maya, Oloo and Ajaawa, where the monarch was warmly and cheerfully received.

According to a statement by Peter Olaleye Oba Ghandi’s Special Assistant on Media and Community Relations, “the water for all project is in line with Oba Ghandi’s 25-year development agenda to transform Ogbomosoland. Earlier, 20 manual boreholes were commissioned. This is a new phase covering motorized boreholes. Dates for commissioning of others will soon be announced.”

It is stated the Oba is also working assiduously to get the federal government intervene to rehabilitate the Ogbomoso Water Scheme. A team from the Federal Ministry of Water Resources ogbomosoinsightonline.com learnt had already visited the site for preliminary assessment. This was after some saboteurs vandalized the place to frustrate the success already attained in pipe-borne water provision by the Oba through private efforts.

The boreholes are products of contacts made by the Soun with well-meaning individuals of Ogbomoso origin across the world. Over 200 boreholes are in line to be commissioned.
