The month of April 2026 will be a busy one for the Soun of Ogbomosoland His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III as he is set to commission a number of projects across the zone in the month.
In a press release made available to newsmen by Peter Olaleye, Special Assistant on Media and Community Relations to Oba Ghandi, the monarch would commission a number of projects which he facilitated.
These according to the release include 30 boreholes, a police station and an amusement park.
“The Oba will commission 30 boreholes including at Jabata, Iwofin, Ajaawa, Oolo, Ile-Abu, Maya, Opete, Otamokun, Pontela, Lagbedu Orile, Iya-Oje among others, starting from Monday, April 13.
“Earlier on Thursday, 9th, an amusement park built by an honorary chieftaincy awardee, Prof Adeshola Adepoju (the Asiwaju of Ogbomosoland), and a police station along the new Ogbomoso-Ilorin expressway at Yanyan Cattle Market, built by Barrister Segun Adekunle (recently conferred with the title of Ashipa of Ogbomosoland) will be commissioned.”

It is noted that the projects are praiseworthy in view of the commitment of Oba Ghandi to progress and development of Ogbomosoland.
“Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III has continued to demonstrate his love and commitment to the people of Ogbomosoland and our communities. His Majesty is uncommon; personal interest doesn’t drive him; but how to change the narratives in terms of progress and prosperity of the land and of his people.
“As an instance gratification or financial obligation from prospective chieftaincy awardees whether traditional or honorary is not paramount to him, rather he commits and mandates such to execute community development projects that will benefit the generality of the people. This is an Oba who doesn’t snatch or sell lands. His preoccupation is growth and development and that is why we need to support him in his strides.”
It is further stated, “Making water available to the residents of the entire 5 local government areas is what matters to Oba Ghandi.”
“He is committed to this while waiting for the Federal Government’s intervention as promised by Mr. President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The Oba has summoned courage to start the sinking of boreholes 10 per each local government of Ogbomosoland, which is expected to be 50 as a start.”

Over twenty were initially commissioned by the Oba earlier this year.
Meanwhile, it is informed that President Tinubu had directed the Ministry of Water Resources to visit Ogbomoso to assess the Oba Water Scheme. This is in response to the request by Oba Ghandi when he met President Tinubu at the Villa in 2025.
“But it is rather unfortunate that the scheme was vandalized before the arrival of the Presidential entourage. Recall His Imperial Majesty had embarked on the rehabilitation project of the water scheme earlier and the process was completed when vandals struck to sabotage the project. But the Oba is not deterred, he has a vision to make water available across the zone either through borehole or pipe-borne water.”
