Brave FM GM Sanjo Saka relives mum’s memory with gifts to orphanage

The General Manager of Brave 91.1 FM, Igbo-Ile, Ogbomoso, Oyo state, Ambassador Sanjo Saka Adedokun a.k.a. Felefele, Friday, along with his siblings, put smiles on the faces of inmates of the Kersey Children’s Home, popularly called “Baby” in Ogbomoso. The occasion was the 10th memorial anniversary of their matriarch Madam Maria Abayomi Adedokun (née Odebunmi), who passed away November 22, 2015.

The family donated cartons of indomie, diapers, chocolates and so on, while guests invited to the occasion similarly supported the gesture with cash donations.

Fẹlẹfẹlẹ remarked the gesture was a reflection of his late matriarch’s compassionate spirit.

He said choosing to celebrate the remembrance at the orphanage was “deliberate and symbolic,” noting the passage of their mother at the time she died though they were adults left a huge void.

He disclosed therefore the experience explained why they decided to commemorate the remembrance with a show of empathy towards the children at the orphanage, most, he averred lost their mother at birth.

“We still feel the absence of our beloved mother despite being adults at the time of her death,” he said. “It is even more painful when you consider the ages of the children here. We felt the best way to mark this anniversary was to come here and identify with them.”

He expressed appreciation to all who joined the family for the humanitarian outreach, noting that their presence added colour and warmth to the remembrance.

In an exhortation Pastor Oluwajoba Moses, who represented Rev’d (Dr) Niyi Adebayo at the event emphasized the importance of good deeds noting it’s like planting of seeds that would come with harvest. “What we do today will be remembered tomorrow. There is time for everything. What we are witnessing today is like another planting time and there will be a season of reaping. What we plant our descendants will definitely reap and not we alone. So, we should be mindful of what we plant. Let’s use the grace God granted each of us to plant with insight. This Mama is being remembered today after 10 years because of the legacies she left behind.”

The matron of the orphanage home, Mrs. Grace Oyelade, exuded joy over the gesture, expressing appreciation to the Adedokun family on behalf of the proprietor of the centre Bowen University Teaching Hospital BUTH Ogbomoso.

Meanwhile, Fẹlẹfẹlẹ in another remark said he’s always confounded by a sequence in his mother’s life. “My mother was born on November 23, got married on November 20 and died on November 22. This coincidence always stupefies me.”
