Pastor allegedly burns buttocks of JSS 3 student for stealing piece of meat in Ogbomoso

A JSS 3 student is in severe pain after his uncle, a pastor (name withheld) allegedly, incinerated his buttocks at Atako area, Aaje-Ologo, Ogbomoso, Oyo state.

The incident which reportedly happened Tuesday was as a result of the boy’s taking a piece of meat, a misdemeanour confessed to by the boy, Precious Abanise.

“When I came back from school,” Precious told ogbomosoinsightonline.com, “I took a piece of meat. When daddy came and he demanded who took a piece of meat l confessed and so he did this to me.”

Asked how he sustained such burns Precious said he was asked to squat on a coal pot oozing flame. “I was made to squat on a fire pot,” he disclosed.

Asked if it was his habit to steal meat or any other item he said no. “How are you related to the man?” He was further asked and he responded that he is the younger brother of his mother.

“I was told my father is late and my mother is currently in Libya. So, l was left with my mother’s younger brother.”

According to him, he first was left with his grandmother before moving in with his uncle.

He further informed he started living with the man when he was in primary four. He is now in JSS 3 at Ori-Oke Community High School.

It was teachers of the school who discovered the injuries that took him to a clinic for treatment.

“Yesterday (Wednesday), he was in school but was visibly in pain, shivering,” a teacher who did not give her name told Ogbomoso Insight. “In fact, a teacher took him home yesterday. But we didn’t notice the wounds.”

It was this morning (Thursday) that his teachers found out the cause of his pain as he was still in discomfiture. “When we inquired, he told us what happened and we undressed him to see his buttocks, thighs and lower legs burnt, and his guardian did not see it fit to take him for treatment, the boy was left uncared for medically. So, we took him for medical care, where he was attended to,” it was added.

As at the time of filing this report the boy looking frail was still in pain, with bruises on his face and all over his body. The pastor he said heads a CAC.

Meanwhile, efforts to speak with the pastor were unsuccessful.
