A social media influencer Alex Onyia has posited that privileged Nigerians are not doing enough to assist the youths especially students aspiring to study abroad.

Onyia, who is CEO of Educare, a leading education technology platform, noted this is part of the reasons gulf in education attainment is wide between developed countries and Nigeria, asserting there the rich helps impressively with scholarships a lot.

Onyia’s post on X (formerly Twitter) states:

“I have visited so many universities in UK and Europe. I can see that lots of Chinese and Indian students are schooling there.

“We have very few Nigerians on scholarships. Many are doing masters as a japa pathway.

“There are lots of scholarship and funding opportunities but it seems Nigerians are not taking advantage of these opportunities enough, and leaving it to other countries.

“Also, people in privileged positions are also not helping others enough. Indians and Chinese do help a lot of their people.

“The education quality gap between the West and Nigeria is like 100 years apart. That’s why it’s important that any child who gets a foreign scholarship opportunity should grab it.
