The BSquare Political Group has condemned the recent remarks by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogbomoso North local government against its principal, Hon. Damilare Sunday Olusanjo (DSO), following his resignation from the party.
Describing the remarks as a desperate attempt to downplay the significance of a “critical loss,” it chastised the ruling party to desist from “resorting to unfortunate smear campaign against a loyal stakeholder.”
In a statement signed by the chairman of the group, Mr. Adeseko Gbenga Okanlawon, the group berated the PDP’s characterization of DSO, popularly known as BSquare, as a desperate defector, dismissing it “a reckless distortion of facts and a clear sign of internal unrest within the party.”

“Rather than mocking a faithful contributor, the PDP should take a hard look at its leaking structure and confront the root causes of its instability,” the statement reads.
Contrary to the PDP’s narrative, the group emphasized that Hon. DSO had never held any elective or appointive office, yet played a pivotal role in building and sustaining the party’s grassroots base in Ogbomoso North and the wider zone.
According to the statement, ”DSO remained committed during difficult times — including the mass defections of 2022 — choosing instead to rally support, mobilize resources, and deliver electoral victories for the party during the 2023 general elections and 2024 local government polls.”

It’s added, “He was not driven by the lure of office or title. He stayed back when others left, and worked tirelessly behind the scenes — funding party activities, supporting candidates, organizing empowerment programs, and bridging the gap between the party and the people.”
The group further described “DSO as a stabilizer, a unifier, and a selfless mobilizer whose political capital lies not in political appointments, but in deep-rooted community trust and popular support.”
On the dismissal of DSO defection as inconsequential, the BSquare Political Group maintained that the truth is evident to the people of Ogbomoso North, whom they stressed had witnessed DSO’s consistent and meaningful contributions firsthand.

“History will remember DSO not for the positions he held, but for the impact he made. His exit is not a personal loss; it is a strong signal of a party losing touch with its most devoted loyalists.”
The statement concluded by urging the PDP to “focus on introspection, rebuild broken structures, and reconnect with the grassroots, rather than engaging in petty name-calling and revisionist propaganda.
“If the PDP is truly as unbothered as it claims, then it should prove so by addressing the reasons behind the growing discontent and exodus of loyal members.”
