Soun congratulates Ogbomoso Muslims, says, ‘Let the moment propel us out of poverty’

The Soun of Ogbomosoland His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III has congratulated Muslims on the occasion of the 2025 Eid al-Adha.
In the congratulatory message signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Community Relations, Peter Olaleye, Oba Olaoye also urged Nigerians especially sons and daughters of Ogbomoso to be determined to walk out of poverty riding on the momentum of the occasion and in the spirit of his ambitious 25 year-development plan.
Titled, “Ileya festival royal greetings from the Soun of Ogbomosoland,” the statement reads, “I rejoice with all Ogbomoso sons and daughters and non-indigenes of our community who are Muslim faithful.”

“Be reminded that Eid-ul-Adha, better known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is one of the most significant celebrations in the Islamic tradition, celebrated by millions of Muslims around the world. Because it commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to offer his son as a sacrifice in an act of obedience to God. This festival reveals the spirit of sacrifice, devotion, and generosity.”
Charging them to imbibe the teachings of the Eid al-Adha he said it’s important to always reflect on its values both physically and spiritually as well as promoting religious understanding, peace and development.

“As we gather to celebrate, we must all reflect on these virtues and express gratitude for the blessings received throughout the year.
“The importance of this celebration lies not only in the physical act of sacrifice but also in the profound spiritual and communal values it promotes.
“Therefore, we must embrace peace, unity, and religious understanding. It is obvious that no development takes place in a non-religious tolerant society.”
He reiterated his vision of a greater Ogbomoso emancipated from poverty and underdevelopment as he stated, “In my 25-year development plan towards a greater Ogbomosoland, I wish to see every son and daughter of this Land of the Valiant walking out of poverty and into wealth; each local government and town being transformed in alignment with the 21st century model.”

The monarch concluded blazing with prayer of blessings, “It is my prayer that may the blessings of Allah be with you all on this auspicious occasion of Ileya. May this festival bring us closer to each other, strengthen our faith, and reaffirm our commitment to peace and unity.”
