The Soun of Ogbomosoland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III, Tuesday, paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Nasarawa state, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, at the Government House, Lafia.

Oba Olaoye was likewise received separately by the wife of the governor Hajia Silifat Abdullahi Sule, who hails from Ogbomoso.

 

The visits according to the monarch were facilitated by the Emir of Lafia His Royal Highness the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad (rtd), who had earlier hosted him and his entourage.

 

Oba Olaoye who was accompanied in the tour  by the Alajaawa of Ajaawa His Royal Majesty Oba Thompson Oyetunji Adeyeye;  Dr Samson Adegoke a.k.a. Maigida, Air Vice Marshal Jacob Bolaji Adigun, and Prof  Adeshola,Adepoju particularly expressed joy at the reception by the wife of the governor saying she rendered a special Ogbomoso song to the admiration of the audience.

 

He also emphasized the cultural dimension of the visit positing it reflected the enduring role of Nigeria’s royal heritage in fostering unity across regional and ethnic lines.

 

The Soun added that it was a symbolic gathering aimed at deepening the alliance between traditional institutions and promoting national cohesion and cultural diplomacy.

 

The visits to the governor and his wife were part of activities lined up for the familiarization visit of the Soun to the state to converse with sons and daughters of Ogbomoso residing in Nasarawa and neighbouring states.

 

The Oba’s 25 year – Development Agenda, the upcoming 2nd edition of Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival and other progressive initiatives will be the highlights of the top level visit.

 

Oba Olaoye noted in a statement, “As I arrived in the welcoming land of Nasarawa, I was profoundly touched by the warmth and loyalty shown by the sons and daughters of Ogbomosoland residing in this part of the country. Their presence and affection were a testament to our enduring bond, and they received my entourage and I — HRM Oba Oyetunji Adeyeye (Alajawa of Ajawa), AVM Bolaji Adigun (Akogun of Ogbomosoland), Dr. Samson Adegoke, and Prof. Sola Adepoju — with great honour and love.
