Ogbegun community lauds Ogbomoso North council boss as river dredging intensifies

Ogbegun community in Ogbomoso North local government area has commended the council chairman Hon George Ogunlade over road widening and dredging project being executed on water courses in the council area.
It was the turn of the expansive Ogbegun community to welcome the excavator Thursday leading to the commencement of the dredging and widening of Ogbegun river which traverses the area.
Chairman of the Oke-Ogbegun Landlords Association, Pa Reuben Ojo Omoniyi speaking with ogbomosoinsightonline.com heaped encomiums on Hon Ogunlade describing the project as a big relief.
“We first thank God. Also we express gratitude to the council boss the amiable Hon Ogunlade for the project, it is indeed a big relief. We have made a lot of efforts to get the river dredged and widened because it annually overflows its course to cause flooding of homes leading to destruction of properties. We made pleas and we are happy he answered us. May God continue to uphold and move him forward.”
Pa Omoniyi highlighting other needs of the area urged the local government to further come to their assistance in improving the road network of the community and grading of roads urgently.
“The council constructed our access road few years ago but the contractor was in a hurry maybe because of the approaching election and so did not allow the road to fully compact before paving it with asphalt. Now, the portion adjacent to the bridge in the access road is submerging.and so we beg him to help fix the road before further damage is done. It will be disastrous if the road is cut off again.

“Furthermore, adjacent to that access road is the Iwofin road. That road often become a nightmare during rainy seasons. There is need to construct a proper bridge over the Ogbegun river whose course navigates our access road through it. Those who constructed it years ago put rings there and these have become extremely inadequate for the volume of flood water coming from neighbouring areas like Kere, Alfa Tedo and Ile Iwe axes.
“This often makes the Iwofin road to get overflowed during rainfall and making it risky to pass. Motorcycles (Okada) and tricycles (Marwa) are usually carried away and people do lose valuables when they accidentally run into it. And many times we get stranded at night unable to cross it to go to our houses. We appeal to the council for the construction of a bridge over the river. May God bless the chairman,” Omoniyi said.
Investigations by Ogbomoso Insight revealed that several streams and rivers are being widened and dredged across the council area including at Katangwa, Alfa Tedo, Aduin, Sawmill Ile Iwe and so on. “After we leave Ogbegun we will move to Odo-Oru,” one of the council staff who accompanied the excavator said.
