Mobility to the immotile! Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) will smile on Saturday, April 5, in Ogbomoso, Oyo state, as a philanthropist, Hon Olufemi Onireti, is set to distribute 100 wheelchairs as well as 20 crutches to them, to aid their mobility.
According to a press release he personally signed, he decided on the programme in order to give mobility (to those affected by disabilities in the leg (s)).
The chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said he was always moved by the plight of the PLWDs as it concerns moving from one place to another informing he came up with the idea in order to provide a little succour to them.
“We came up with this initiative, mobility to the immotile, in order to assist our brothers and sisters who are living with disabilities. There are many of our compatriots who are struck with disabilities in their legs. I am always moved by their plight when I see them struggling to move from one place to another.
“We therefore felt let us start with aiding them walk from place to place with greater ease so that they can more easily eke a living for themselves and families. So, this is our own little way of providing succour for them.”
ogbomosoinsightonline.com gathered that in response to an earlier public awareness on the programme close to 100 persons had indicated interest in the movement aids “and so we have names already for the wheelchairs and crutches but we can accommodate more as the number of the items we have on ground are not yet exhausted.”
